Could Vitamin D be the missing link in helping battle Morgellons?

Vitamin D has an important role in our immune function.

It has been estimated that millions of people world-wide are vitamin D deficient or insufficient. One article estimates that more than 30% of America’s population is Vitamin D deficient.

Laboratory, animal, and epidemiologic testing indicates that vitamin D may be a defensive against some diseases. Now the American Medical Association is recognizing the overwhelming evidence supporting the importance of vitamin D in the prevention of cancer, infection, cognitive decline, diabetes and several autoimmune diseases. Some doctors are recommending 2000 IU for everybody who is otherwise healthy and even higher does of Vitamin D for those who suffer from disease.

What do you think?

  1. I have Carlsons Vitamin D soft gel capsules. I don’t take them everyday though. I have 2000 IU that I take and 400 IU for the kids, but again, we only take them once or twice a week. Vitamin D they say is very important for fighting the flu as well. I also go out in the sun without sunblock, though winter is coming now so supplimentation is more important. I have seen some articles stating not to do Vitamin D and so forth, but I think in the end it will be proven to be beneficial. This is why I don’t take it every day, but a few times a week.

  2. Thanks for sharing. From Prevention Mag. (An interesting side note: Vitamin D is actually not a vitamin at all but rather the precursor of a steroid hormone. It’s found in many animal products, such as milk products and fish oil. But the best source is sunlight, when our bodies can create the steroid ourselves.) Those of you who do not live in the sunshine states for sure take the D.
